Budi Kurniawan has completed his Bachelor degree in Government Studies from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in 2005s. He earned his master’s degree in Public Policy from Australian National University (ANU) in December 2012 funded by the Australian Development Scholarship (ADS). When he was a student at UGM, he was also a leader in some student organizations as part of student movement in Indonesia in the early post-Suharto era. After graduated from UGM, he served as a lecturer at the Department of Politics and Government, Faculty of Social and Political Science, Lampung University. As a lecturer in political science, He also conducted some researches in political corruption and Islamism, which some of them have been published in journal and paper. He has written some articles related with political corruption and national political issues published in some national newspapers such as the Jakarta Post and Republika. In 2013 after graduating from ANU, he joined partnership, a prominent Indonesian NGO that focus in governance reforms research, as a consultant. He also worked as researcher in “2014 Indonesia Governance Index”, a research measuring the governance level in all Indonesian Province Governments funded by UNDP and Ausaid.
