Yogi Setya Permana is a researcher at the Research Center for Politics, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). He has completed master’s degree at the Australian National University (ANU) in 2016. Currently, he is completing the final stages of completing PhD program at the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV), Universiteit Leiden. His Doctoral research funded by the Dutch Research Council under the Climate Governance research agenda, critically examines the global flood risk management framework in Indonesian cities, with a focus on the influence of local politics on varying outcomes of flood management.

Throughout his career, he has proven his ability to conduct independent research through a strong publication record, research experience, and networking skills. He has successfully collaborated with diverse partners and stakeholders within and outside academia, including donor agencies, funding committees, CSOs, and government agencies at both local and central levels. He organized a collaborative network, which is extended to various government agencies such as Bappenas, the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). Additionally, he has also secured grants from global funding bodies including the Asia Foundation, Swedish Centre for Local Democracy, UNDP, and IDEA International. Research findings he completed have been disseminated through a variety of academic communication channels, including high-ranking peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Contemporary Southeast Asia, Journal of Southeast Asia Studies, Journal of Religion, State and Society, Springer Nature, and Pacific Affairs. He has also contributed to some web-based academic platforms such as New Mandala, East Asia Forum, and Inside Indonesia.
